Farms and farm families often have many traditions and for many years, Grandma Crumbaugh was the baker of the Christmas Bread. There wasn't a recipe, she didn't measure, she just magically and wonderfully created. Several years ago, so the tradition could continue on with future generations, the cousins got together with Grandma for the "baking of the Christmas Bread." It took a couple of years to get her "recipe" written down. There's still a little of this and a scant tablespoon of that, but we came up with directions that could be followed to re-create the treasured Christmas Bread. When you put your hands in that dough, you can't help but be filled of wonderful memories of Grandma and other beautiful family traditions. Of course, there is some of our Pioneer Sugar involved in the baking process as well.
